Over the past seventeen years, Dr. Rowe has been captivated by natural Black hair which has translated into prioritizing Black aesthetics in her scholarly research. As a Black Hair Scholar and Consultant, her aim is to dismantle the layers of oppression facing Black women, many existing with the appearance of Black hair and hair texture. With almost two decades of expertise within higher education, her research focuses on identity development of Black women, specific to Black hair and hair texture, and the ways hair discrimination, bias, and other oppressional layers impact the quality of life specific to Black women and girls.
